Vintage Serviced First Gen Parker Vacumatic Golden Web Fountain Pen with 14k Nib
Vintage Serviced First Generation Parker Vacumatic Golden Web Fountain Pen with 14 kt Gold Nib. Parker manufactured the Vacumatic range of its pens from 1932 through 1948 although there is some thought it may have continued for time after that date. I would estimate this pen was made mid to late 1930’s. 14 kt Gold, t. He nib is not marked but I would say its a MEDIUM. The nib has the Parker Arrow engraved on it and is stamped USA, Parker, 17. Beautiful Golden Web with contrasting Black section and Black jewelled blind button. Parker, Parker Vacumatic, Made in USA. Golden Web with Gold Arrow clip and double narrow Gold cap rings and single Black Jewel. This is a twist fit and works very well. One, Black on top of cap. 4 5/8 (122 mm). 5 3/4 (145 mm). This is a Vacumatic filling fountain pen. The lock down mechanism is a little worn and can be a little difficult to close at times but it does “lock down” and close when handled with care. Other than that none to the best of my knowledge and observations. The pen has had a full Vacumatic service with a new bladder, it has been cleaned, flushed, lubricated, the barrel and section sealed with thread sealer and lightly wax polished. Finally tested for functionality. This is a fantastic pen with a semi transparent barrel. The Golden Web is a highly sought after fountain Pen. The nib is a medium and wriotes with a super smooth line. Perfect for Parker collectors or collectors of rare and unusual pens. It i s ready to go to its new owner. There are many interpretations out there that people use to judge conditions of vintage pens. I have detailed below how I personally judge vintage pens. A Word About Nibs. The key thing to remember about nibs on vintage pens is that in the vast majority of cases they have been used, sometimes extensively. I check that nibs write but I cannot guarantee they will suit your particular hand. Most nibs are just fine but sometimes especially with flexible and customer adjusted nibs they may need further adjustment to suit your style of writing. I do not adjust nibs. It is a highly skilled task. I often do small nib repairs and lightly polish them so they are relatively smooth but that is the extent of my skills. On to my grading of pens.. New and either unused or very slightly used. It will always be in the original box and will be in what I call collectors condition. It may or may not have been inked but the listing will detail this fact. New like in appearance, it will have been inked and used but has been taken care of and will have little to no signs of use. Will have been used but will be fully functional and will load ink via whatever method it uses and will write. It retains all its original parts with the possible exception of a new ink sac or pressure bar. It will not have any dents, no gouges and no cracks. It will quite probably have minor scrathching acquired during the course of being used. The pen will have probably been well used and shows general wear due to use. Small scratches, some brassing of plated parts, possible previous repairs and even repalcement parts may be present. It will be fully functional and will load ink via whatever method it uses and will write. It will have no major defects. A pen that has been well used. There will probably be a lot of wear and tear however it will be fully functional and will load ink via whatever method it uses and write. I will not falsify the value of any pen. They have to be fully insured to protect both you and myself in case of loss. Hi my name is Neil and I spend all of my time split living between the USA and the UK (explained further on) which is why although listed as USA based at some periods of time I sell my items from the United Kingdom. I got back into my love of pens when my Mother passed away back in 2013. When going through her things I found my old college pen, a Parker 45 Flighter that was brought for me as a Christmas present on 24th December 1976. Sadly when my Mother did pass I had to take over the care of my Father who has Dementia and requires 24/7 care. That is the reason why. I have always been a Parker pen fan from my early days for sure. I find most of todays pens charmless and characterless and whilst their nibs may be more consistent they are boring My favorite era would be from the 1930’s through to early 1960’s. I love flexible nibs although I have neither the time or skill to master their wonderful properties, maybe one day! Writing with a fountain pen again has improved my hand writing, I can almost read it again and of course it reminds me of my younger days and a different era!!! I want all of you to be happy. I do my very best to describe my pens both in word and picture. Best of luck with your pen and thank you. Track Page Views With. Auctiva’s FREE Counter.
