Vintage Silver Pearl 1940s Parker Blue Diamond Vacumatic Fountain Pen
Vintage Silver Pearl 1940s Parker Blue Diamond Vacumatic Fountain Pen. This is another pen from my grandfather and my mom. I have cleaned and washed it out and everything works. I tried to do some research and it could be a Parker Major perhaps 1942-48. It seems to measure 5 3/32 inches and has nickel or chrome trim. I would believe it really is nickel as it does not have the gloss that chrome has. When I was restoring old cars that always seemed to be the case with nickel. The Parker Company only offered this for their more expensive pens. Some thought that the Parker arrow clip was very stylish and Art Deco in appearance. The body is celluloid with alternating rings that created the design. The pump is also celluloid so that would also indicate after 1942 because they wanted to preserve metal for the war effort. The body and cap are excellent and there are no cracks or mars. There might be a bit of fading where the pen was held. As you turn the pen, the colors seem to change and I tried to show that in my pictures. The translucency is also good and I guess it is there so one could see the ink level. The threads on all parts are also perfect. The nib is PARKER USA with the arrow design on it. There is also what looks like a dot 1 and dot. On the back side is the letter A. As I pointed out the pump action is great and works as it should. I only want the pen to find a home and not a drawer to be forgotten again. This is a American pen that has lasted all these years and I feel it will last many more with the right owner.
