The Parker’75’ was designed by Kenneth Parker for the company’s 75th anniversary. That was 1963 but the pen came to market in 1964 with the model for sale here, the sterling silver “Cicele”. The Parker 61 and VP, which preceded the 75, were not as successful as hoped. In fact the era of fountain pens seemed to be on the wane. The Cicele borrowed the textured grip and adjustable nib from the VP and featured the convenient cartridge/converter filler from late 61’s and the budget 45. The quality, luxury and user-friendliness of the 75 made it a big success. Many cap and barrel finishes can be found but this is the classic. I’m not an expert at dating 75’s but I know this isn’t an early pen because it has dished ends on the cap and barrel. It’s probably from the 1970’s because that’s when Parker started using letters to indicate nib size. The 14K XF nib on this pen would have previously been a #63. It is marked’Parker 14K Point USA’. The collar is in good shape with lines to judge the angle of the nib but not the centering “0”. The only external markings are at the base of the cap where it has a very discreet Parker logo,’PARKER’, and’Sterling Cap & Barrel, USA’. Length capped: 13cm (5 1/16). Length posted: 14.1cm (5 1/2).
