THIS IS THE ONE YOU’VE BEEN WAITING FOR! This was the crown jewel of my late father’s collection. It is a pristine, First Year, Parker 51 Vacumatic, Double Jewel, with RARE Pearlescent Double Jewels (not aluminum). It has a Sterling Silver cap (marked), perfect Blue Diamond, and has a gorgeous, intricate Chevron patterned band. It is gold trimmed, with clear converging lines. As with true first year models, the date imprint is on the blind cap. It is just below the top jewel and gold band, and reads, in one line straight across, PARKER “51” MADE IN U. This means that the pen was manufactured in Janesville, WI during the second quarter of 1941. The date imprint is strong and shown in the photographs. This cap is Sterling Silver and is exceptionally attractive. The band is engraved with STERLING SILVER MADE IN U. Sterling caps are difficult to find in excellent condition, as they are prone to staining and dings/dents. This cap is almost mint, with no staining or dings/dents. Likewise, the gold and blue diamond on the clip are in amazing condition. As with most true first year 51s, this pen has a metal filler unit, similar to the early generations of Vacumatics in the 1930s. This metal filler bears the clear diamond logo and is the original filler unit. This vintage Dove Grey, Blue Diamond, Sterling, fountain pen beauty is approximately 5 3/8 long. Please note that this pen was my father’s pride, and is 100% guaranteed as authentic, genuine, and original. No parts have been replaced. It has not been altered, restored or refitted with anything – it never left my family’s possession – this is the real deal from 1941. Please note that while I have every reason to believe this pen will work when filled with ink, I have neither filled it nor had it examined. The pen will come boxed in an original Parker’s Box No. 265, which is brass with a grained leather covering, a raised “51” medallion on top, metallic satin lining and a pen loop. While this is an original Parker 51 box, I now know that it is not this pen’s original box I – gently, I thought -pushed the pen into the loop and snapped the loop – the pen was apparently too large for the loop.
