Measures 4 5/8 capped. The gold-filled filigree over this black hard rubber ringtop features an exquisitely hand-engraved Art Nouveau pattern as well as an indicia on the barrel for engraving. Barrel overlay is stamped “Parker Fountain Pen” along with patent dates from 1891 and 1905. Pen has an Xmas tree feed and knurled blindcap unscrews to reveal brass button for filling. To fill, one simply unscrews the blind cap, submerges the nib to the section, and depress the brass button once. This pen is complemented by an early 14k Lucky Curve #3 Keyhole nib, a very scarce variant of the Lucky Curve line. Unflexed, it lays down a F line on the down-strokes and XF line on the cross-strokes. Under light pressure, that line widens to around a 4B. Hard rubber retains its deep black color with minimal fading. Overlay bears a monogram J. Engraved in Copperplate script. There are a couple dings around the engraving and both barrel and cap overlays show some wear on the ends, but the pen presents very well all the same. Hard rubber has a smooth, lustrous surface with no deep scratches or other notable blemishes. Imprint on barrel overlay shows moderate wear but is still mostly legible. The pen is fully functional with a new sac. The nib may need some fine tuning for the most enjoyable writing experience, as it seems to have a slow start when inked.
