I’m liquidating my fountain pen collection, accumulated 30 years ago. Today it’s a beautiful Parker Duofold Senior dating from around 1930, in bright mandarin yellow. It is in excellent condition in every way — fills and writes nicely, no brassing. BUT it has a hairline crack in the lip. Examine the photos closely; I have tried to show the crack as clearly as my photography skills allow. You will see a nick below the bottom band; from there the hairline arcs faintly up to below the clip, then arcs down to the right, back below the bands. Overall, it traverses an area about the size of the fingernail on my little finger (I’m a 6′ 1 male). Also see the photo of the end cap. It has some light indentations that may be tooth marks, but much less evident than tooth marks usually are. Imprint is small and light but fully legible: Geo. Parker / Janesville, Wis. Nib is stamped Parker Duofold Deluxe Made in USA. Pen is 5 3/8 inches / 13.5 cm long when capped. I have carried and used the pen occasionally without incident. It is what it is, and the crack isn’t noticeable in normal lighting conditions. I installed a new sac several years ago. The pen takes a nice fill and writes nicely – smoothly for a fine nib – and lays down a nice line.
