A VINTAGE BOXED PARKER 51 FOUNTAIN PEN AND PENCIL SET. 1ST YEAR 1947 PARKER 51 DEMI FOUNTAIN PEN IN DOVE GREY WITH 1/8 14K GOLD FILLED CAP, VACUMATIC FILLING SYSTEM AND FINE NIB. WITH MATCHING 51 PROPELLING PENCIL. MARKS – As shown, date code for 4th quarter 1947 on pen. SIZE – pen 12.2cm , pencil 13cm (pen 4 7/8in , pencil 5 1/8in) long. CONDITION – I have not taken the pen apart but I can’t get it to fill with ink so suspect it needs a replacement diaphragm. Otherwise pen and pencil are in excellent condition. The barrel of the pencil is a slightly darker/greener colour which I understand is due to the early pencils being made from celluloid which had the tendency to darken like this over time as compared to the lucite pen barrels.
