Item for sale is an English Parker 51 fountain pen. The pen is fully functional, it has the squeeze bar filler that is accessed by unscrewing barrel. The nib is a fine, see writing sample, the sac/filler is in excellent shape. The English 51 has the words ROLLED GOLD stamped on the barrel, and on the cap, along with PARKER stamping on cap. There is a grey single jewel on cap, the cap features the classic Parker arrow clip. (The term rolled gold in England is same as gold filled in US). There is no engraving on the cartouche (the blank rectangular area on barrel). There are no dings, marks of any kind on the cap. There are two marks on the barrel end that are shown in the last two photos of the pen (last photo is writing sample). I would describe the two marks as wear, as opposed to dings/dents. It is possible both could be buffed and the end re-plated to render the finish uniform. Please ask questions since I have made every effort to describe the best (and worst) features of the offering. It is a very nice pen, if the two scuff marks on the barrel end were not present I would rate this pen A1. Finally, if you are a English Parker fan, note the ring on the section where barrel screws on: US models featured a plain metal ring, UK models feature a gold shade band flanked by two stainless bands… Small detail, but it’s interesting how the Parker UK people in New Haven Sussex developed their own style when working on the classic 51 Signet. I would put production date late 40s early 50s-so some age on the pen. What you see is what ships. If an issue it will be sorted.
